  2. Catering • You need a license to do to the following things: • Sell or supply alcohol • Set hot food between 11pm and 5am • Provide entertainment (ex. theatre, cinema, live music) • Sell food from a van on the street.

Requirements For certificates Associate’s degree • Programs can take 6-12 months to complete. • certificate programs include and internship where students can build hands-on catering experience with a local company. • Typical course work: food preparation, sanitation and safety, and catering. • Associates degree in culinary management is a 2-year program that focuses on food preparations, food service, and business principles. • Complete an internship with local catering agencies or other food service establishments where they receive culinary training. • Ex. Of courses: nutrition, pastry arts, food purchasing, and menu design

Into the Future • Is able to develop by itself without a business. • People will be reluctant to move catering services if they like how the food tastes. • Usually customers will prefer a catering business that set competitive prices. • Customers are usually more careful of the types of food, menus, and cleaniness.

  5. Salary • In the catering industry you are expected to have a average salary of $37,000. • Costs vary due to company, industry, location, experience, and benefits.

  6. Goods and Bads of Catering.. Pros Cons • Special events- in addition to your chef skills you can also incorporate your decorating skills and planning skills. • Business- if you like catering this type is typically year-round. • Mobile- easily managed alongside standard event catering business or restaurant operation. • Special events-it can be time consuming and very stressful. • Business- since you have to try and please everyone, you are limited of food choices. • Mobile- since this type of catering is always on the move it is difficult to develop a loyal customer basis.

  7. Continued.. Pros Cons • Industrial- easier because its flexible with the type of foods you present to the crowd you are catering to. • Industrial- because of the large crowds you are catering, it can be difficult to maintain a high standard of food quality and may become expensive.
