Colorado by the Numbers • 75.4% graduation rate • 2.9% dropout rate (12,256 students) • $3.2 Billion lost lifetime earnings** • 31.8% remediation rate • 36.1% of high school seniors took an AP exam and 22.3% received a 3 or higher • 65% college enrollment rate of high school graduates • 19% of Colorado 11th and 12th grade students in a public high school are participating in a dual enrollment program. • 37% CTE participation * Data from 2011-12 academic year **Alliance for Education Excellence 7

Concurrent Enrollment Status • 23,623 students • Number of students increased by nearly 3,000 in one year • 33% increase in number of ASCENT students in 2011-12 (over previous year) • 65% of Colorado high schools offer concurrent enrollment Source: Annual Report On Concurrent Enrollment Report 2011-12

Impact on Educator Preparation Programs • All CO educator preparation programs align with the new Colorado Academic Standards (CCSS), including the definition of Postsecondary and Workforce Readiness • Joint Outreach and Engagement Efforts • CDHE liaison: new position to connect K12 reforms and supporting resources with prep. programs • Educator Preparation Summit – Sept. 27 2013 • LEAD Compact – P20 and partners invited to inform licensing reform and teacher/leader pathways to instruction. Legislation 2014 likely • Data and Accountability – Educator Evaluation system will report data back to preparation programs. Pilot studies underway.

Counselor Corps: Cohort Two Outcomes, Year One • 23 grantees funding a total of 76 secondary schools • 18 grantees were districts and 5were charter schools • 53,666 students, 63 % free or reduced lunch, in 2011-12 • Graduation rates increased by 4.2 percentage points • Dropout rates decreased by 1.2 percentage points • More than 64 counselors were hired lowering student-to-counselor ratios from 363:1 in 2010-11 to 261:1 in 2011-12. • Of the 7,612 seniors 44% completed a FAFSA, an increase of four percentage points in one year. Partnership with College Measures on Economic Success Measures Higher Education Pays: The Initial Earnings of Graduates from Colorado’s Colleges and Universities Working in Colorado • College Degrees Pay • Students who finish with either a bachelor’s or an associate’s degree earn more than students who enter the labor market with a high school diploma • Market Demand for AAS • Students earning a career-oriented Associate of Applied Sciences (AAS) have average first-year earnings that are almost $7,000 more than graduates of bachelor’s degree programs • Major Matters • For bachelor’s degrees, in general, graduates in health and business earn more than graduates with liberal arts degrees

SchoolView™ Performance Platform Knowledge Management Capacity PROVIDE PERFORM Interactive portals provide parents, students, educators, policymakers and researchers access to performance information, online content and collaboration tools to inform and improve student performance. Multiple stakeholders use, learn, and leverage information to drive increased student performance through professional development, innovative programs and improved instructional practices. Cross Agency Interoperability LINK Efficient and effective data exchange exists across agencies (human services, K-12, higher education, labor, corrections) and levels (district, state, federal) to promote accountability , inform policy and ensure a holistic view of student success . Educator Quality Student Information Program Classifications CAPTURE Information about educational settings, courses taken and interventions implemented share common definitions to link program information to student performance. Educators have a unique identifier that links their training and development to student performance. Student data is captured from early childhood through college to guide educational decision-making at all levels, classroom to statehouse.

Colorado Department of Labor and Employment • CDLE shares in state wage data with CDE and CDHE quarterly • CDLE also pulls FEDES data on demand for CDE and CDHE students • WRIS 2 is in the works, but the inability to share individual level data even with WRIS 2 is a concern • Individual data for WIA and Wagner Peyser participants also shared with CDE and CDHE as needed
