  2. Background • Initiative began in the mid-1980’s • Develop Aviation Incubator Facility • Attract Research Oriented Companies • Generate concepts for development • Supported by Bill Hughes and Frank Lautenberg among others • Did Not Receive Traction

Today • Aviation is a cornerstone of the global economy • FAA is transforming the current aviation system to meet today’s national and global needs • Aviation Research is key to that transformation (FAA SE2020 Program $7 Billion) • Many areas of the country contain elements of aviation research, but no area has it all; therefore The Need Exists for an Aviation Center of Excellence

  8. Bottom Line • New Jersey can be the Center for Global Aviation Research, Development and Possible Manufacture • We Must Focus Available Resources; and • We Must Develop the Aviation Research Park
