  2. The information in this show is for operating a Self-Erecting Tower Crane. A self-erecting tower crane means: a type of tower crane whose elements are not split into their component parts but are transported from one site to another in a compact folded up style. The erection and dismantling process of the crane is much faster than fixed type tower cranes. Power is supplied through a power cable connected to an external power supply. The crane is set up on integral outriggers or stabilisers with adequate packing.

  3. Job procedures before setting up When preparing an operational plan for cranes you would need to do the following: • Job requirements. (Plan the job) • Priorities. (What is most important?) • Workplace rules. (Check site rules) Protect pedestrians and traffic (continued next slide)

  4. RIGGER’SCERTIFICATE Qualification needed to set up a self-erecting tower crane To set up a self-erecting tower crane you need to have an intermediate or advancedrigger’s certificate.

Directions from the Airport Authority may state operational hours for the crane operation. maximum jib elevations Information from the Airport Authority may state maximum jib elevations for any luffing type operations.
