Progression - maximises curricular continuity Broad match between CfE Level 4 & SCQF Level 4 draws on the Ps & Ps papers for its ‘big ideas’ draws on Es and Os as appropriate Each National course is specific, and ... has a clear, distinct rationale aims and purpose uses hierarchical Unit structures where ever possible has clear assessment standards and evidence requirements more flexible evidence requirements, support for choice in assessment methods and instruments less prescription (especially in Unit requirements) More integrative assessment opportunities

Controlled Assessment National 4 Added Value Unit: Set by centres following SQA guidance and exemplars Conducted by centres within SQA requirements Marked and internally verified by centre to SQA marking instructions and externally quality assured by SQA National 5 and Higher Course Assessment Usually set by SQA – a few subjects set by centres within SQA guidelines Conducted under a high degree or some supervision and control within SQA requirements Submitted to SQA for external marking – a few subjects marked by centre staff in line with SQA marking instructions
