Why I chose my Topic and Product • I chose my topic because I’ve been involved with music programs for 7 years and is a major part of my life.
Research • Music Students tend to do better on ACT’s and SAT’s. • Music Students tend to receive more academic honors and awards than those who didn’t take music education • Music, especially around 60 BPM, activates both hemispheres in the brain, making the brain more relaxed, alert, and able to learn.
Research • Schools with music education programs tend to have higher attendance and graduation rates. • Music students tend to have better time management and teamwork skills. • Those involved in music programs are less likely to abuse drugs and alcohol.
Product • My product is a documentary that shows the benefits students have received while being involved with music education.
