Stormwater Education Task Force(SET Force) • Gov. and Non-gov. representatives that assist with program implementation and evaluation. • Local Task Force - manual editing, evaluation of educational materials, and toolkit production. • Statewide Task Force - evaluate toolkit drafts and recommend materials.

To Prevent and Reduce Nonpoint Source Pollution! • Increase awareness amongst three audiences – general public, business/industry, government. • Assist agencies and organizations implement stormwater education and community participation programs. • Facilitate statewide partnering and resource sharing – reduce “wheel inventing!!”

  13. Government Survey • Assess needs for stormwater education materials • Identify existing programs • Determine watershed and demographic variables • Confirm contacts for toolkit delivery • Over 150 agencies contacted, received 50 completed surveys (33%).

Protect our Indian River Lagoon through GREEN BUSINESSBest Management Practices. • Let Customers know you CARE about our Quality of Life by becoming a GREEN BUSINESS. • Increased community recognition & advertising exposure through local news media,bulletin boards, posters & kiosks. • GREEN BUSINESS Stickers and Posters for Shop or Vehicle Windows. • Eligible Businesses: Lawn Care, Hotels/Motels and General Contractors. The goal of the Green Business program is to reach out to local business through incentives and education, to insure pollution prevention & protection of our Indian River Lagoon. Its Easy to be GREEN!!

  15. Children’s Water Festivals Provide funding and guidance for partners to conduct CWFs in each water management district.

Florida Water Quality Monitoring Council Retreat – July 15 & 16, 2004 • Initiate formation of Florida Water Quality Monitoring Council based on existing councils as a model. • Involve diverse stakeholders • Cocoa Beach Doubletree • Encourage statewide information sharing, data management, and interpretation. • More information at www.ce.ucf.edu/wqm

The Stormwater Education Toolkit • Guidance for implementing stormwater education and public participation programs. • Share existing materials so no need to “reinvent the wheel.” • An evolving resource that can be adapted to add new programs and materials. • Place to store examples of printed materials collected from events, conferences, festivals and other educational venues.

SET Volumes • Volume I – General Public • Volume II – Government and Business • Volume III – Youth • Binders divided into topic areas defined by EPA guidance for NPDES required education & participation program implementation. • Guidance manuals, resources, contacts, glossary of terms, and funding ideas. • Each volume has a compact diskette of printable educational materials.
