  5. Holiday Traditions-Christmas Christmas in Italy is based heavily on the christvanty. Christmas starts eight days before Christmas eve and last till after the feast of Epiphany. Children in Italy hang up there stockings on the feast of Epiphany on January sixth. To celebrate they visit the three kings. Instead of Santa Clause Children are expecting Befana is a is like a witch character who rides around on a broom. The day before Christmas Eve no meat is eaten for twenty four hours. But there follows a meal as big as the family can afford. And that is a holiday In Italy.
