  2. REQUIREMENTS You will need to have with you every day – • Pen or a pencil • Binder, paper, dividers, and a folder You can keep these in the cubbies in the back of the room. Be sure to put your name on everything

  3. Structure As a general rule, class is set up as *Monday and Tuesday – notes and worksheets lecture, study guides *Wednesday – teacher led demonstration *Thursday and Friday – lab and eat

  4. You will need to • Take notes and do all study guides • Do all worksheets – if I give them to you, they will be graded • Turn everything in on time • Copy all recipes • Complete all journal entries • Keep papers to use as a study guide for tests (in your folder)

  5. And • Participate in all labs • Participate in reading and writing assignments • Participate in research projects • Be responsible

  6. LABS We will start cooking in 2 to 3 weeks Will go over background info first *Why we eat *Advertising *Safety and sanitation *Kitchen setup, recipes, food terms, utensils, etc

  7. Start Easy • Chocolate chip cookies • Quick breads – waffles, coffeecakes • Fruit • Eggs – omelets, breakfast • Milk – cream pie • Thanksgiving Pies • Grain products – rice, pasta • Yeast breads - pizza

  8. Long Term Projects • Lifestyle nutrition *Individual project which will include a report, power point Presentation with pictures Current Event readings American Regional reports (second semester) Writing pieces

  9. RESPONSIBILITIES • MAINTAIN A SAFE AND SANITARY ENVIRONMENT • BE RESPECTFUL • STRONG WORK ETHIC • BE RESPONSIBLE • GOOD ATTITUDE • BE WILLING TO TRY NEW THINGS • BE CONSIDERATE OF CLASSMATES

  10. GRADES • WORKSHEETS AND STUDY GUIDES – ALL WILL BE GRADED • TESTS – COMPREHENSIVE • NO HOMEWORK *EXCEPTION: DID NOT FINISH CLASSWORK *LONG TERM PROJECTS – may need to be finished on your time • PROJECTS • RECIPES AND JOURNAL ENTRIES • LABS
