  2. Who was Europa? • Europa was the beautiful daughter of King Agenor. She has the continent Europe named after her, and she is one of Zeus’ lucky lovers who was not punished by Hera(Juno).

  3. The Myth of Europa… • One night as Europa was sleeping she had a dream. In the dream there were two continents arguing over her. Asia argued that Europa belonged to her since she was born in Asia. The other continent said that her birth was not important, since Zeus would give it to her. Europa was not able to go back to sleep so she called for her friends to come to her. It was a beautiful day so they decided to go by the sea to pick flowers. While they were outside Zeus noticed the group especially Europa, and instantly fell in love with her. So he appeared to her as a white bull that smelled like flowers and more beautiful than any other. The bull seemed so gentle so all the girls rushed up to pet it.

  4. ….Continued . Then the bull laid down in front of Europa and she slid on his back. Instantly the bull ran to the sea and began to swim very quickly from the shore. Soon Europa and the bull were joined by Nereids riding dolphins and Triton blowing his horn. From this she realized that bull was not a bull but a god, so she begged him to let her go. Zeus then spoke to her and told her all the love he felt for her. He took her to Crete where he was raised and there she became his wife and there she bore him many famous sons. The famous two were Minos and Rhadamanthus.
