  2. Learning Objective • After completing this topic, you should be able to perform several different activities on the patient’s interventions via the customization of the verb strip and its functions.

  3. Document Now – Documents occurrence at time of documentation. Document Interv’s – Allows the user to change date and time of documentation and number of occurrences

  4. Add Inter – Enter a few letters of the intervention and then select F9 <look up>. Check mark intervention using the right Ctrl key.

  5. Change Directions – Enter new directions on next open line. Then enter start date, time, and new directions. Types of directions 1. Standard meditech 2. F9 Look up 3. Free text.

  6. Type of Status: • Active • Complete • Hold • Inactive • X –Cancel • Stopped

  7. Enter VH to view history of intervention. Use arrow keys to View documentation.

  8. When documentation needs to be removed from a patient’s record, the user can undo and edit their own documentation. When undoing an intervention, highlight documentation using the arrow key and then enter U .

  9. Before the intervention documentation is undone a pop-up box appears. If correct answer yes. Once answered yes, the Undo appears under the intervention. Once an intervention is Undone it can not be recalled. If done in error, the information needs to be re-entered.

  10. This documentation will not show in the patient’s electronic record.

  11. When documentation needs to be changed or edited from a patient’s record, the user can edit their own documentation. Enter VH then highlight the intervention. Then enter E for Edit. The intervention will show as Edit Result. Just the last edited form will show in the patient’s record, PCI.

  12. Edit Text allows the user to enter specifics of the intervention for others to view and to be printed on profile.

  13. Other functions from the Process intervention screen include entering patient notes and orders.

  14. Select Interv’s – allows the user to view interventions from selected status. Using this function may be necessary to view complete or stopped interventions
