  1. Multimedia PowerPoint Presentation • Students are to select a subject matter and develop a lesson unit that incorporates the use of technology in the classroom. • Students are to show teaching materials used and demonstrate how technology enhances the learning process. Lissette Gutierrez Education 255 Final Presentation

  2. Living Things And The CellGrade level: 4th -6th Cells, Organelles, & Functions August11, 2003 Temple University

  3. The students will be able to identify and explain about the different parts of a cell. The students will understand the differences between a plant cell and an animal cell. The students will be able to explain the different processes that occur in these cells. Unit Objectives What is a Living Thing? Lissette Gutierrez Education 255 Final Presentation

  4. Development: Teacher brings out a rock, a worm and a plant and asks the children which doesn’t belong? Activity: The students will work in groups and cut out pictures from magazines of 5 living things and 5 non-living things. Application: The teacher leads a discussion asking the children to list what all living things have in common. 1. Introduction: Living vs. Non-Living Lissette Gutierrez Education 255 Final Presentation

  5. …what do these living things have in common that allows them to do these things/sustain life? • All living things are made up of … Lissette Gutierrez Education 255 Final Presentation

  6. 2. Cells – the building blocks of life! Lissette Gutierrez Education 255 Final Presentation

  7. Teacher Made Materials: Lissette Gutierrez Education 255 Final Presentation

  9. 2. What’s so special about a plant cell? Lissette Gutierrez Education 255 Final Presentation

  10. 4. What can a cell do? Lissette Gutierrez Education 255 Final Presentation

  11. Light is absorbed by the chlorophyll and then energy is released. This energy is combined with hydrogen molecules (water) and carbon dioxide (air) to create a chemical reaction. CO2 + H2 + (light + ADP=ATP) = glucose. Review:http://science.nhmccd.edu/biol/bio1int.htm#photo Photosynthesis Lissette Gutierrez Education 255 Final Presentation

  12. Nucleus sends out instructions messenger RNA. Ribosome pick up the instructions and start to gather materials to make protein. Ribosome stick to E.R. which takes the material to continue production. Golgi Apparatus take finished protein and sends it out of the cell for use. Teacher Made Material:Protein Synthesis Activity: The students will make three dimensional plant and animal structures. Protein Synthesis Lissette Gutierrez Education 255 Final Presentation
