  2. TEPPC Database Update • Goals • Accomplishments • Review Process • Lessons Learned • Future Improvements

  3. 2007 Goals • Continue previous work to make available a public dataset for transmission planning study work • Establish a structure within WECC to provide direction and coordination • Training of WECC staff on tools and procedures • Collect new data and update the dataset • Encourage peer review of the data

  4. Accomplishments (General) • Data converted to new model • New topology developed and implemented • Load data updated • Transmission updated with new power flow • Portable Data Format implemented • WECC staff trained to use tools • Data reviewed by stakeholders

  5. Accomplishments (Generation) • Heat Rates improved • Generation reconciled with L&R data • California hydro disaggregated • Northwest hydro improved • Incremental generation redefined • Generation scenarios defined

  6. Review Process • Delay in release (2-3 months) • Released October 1, 2007 • Requested wide participation • Comments submitted from a variety of stakeholders • Comments evaluated and implemented

  7. Lessons Learned • Data should be updated more frequently • More participation needed • This cycle not a good measure of time requirements • More coordination within TAS would benefit process • Need to solicit more assistance from industry experts

  8. Future Improvements • Develop a more efficient process for updating data • Accelerate work to improve hydro modeling • Work with NREL to obtain and implement new wind profiles • Develop plan to continue improvement of thermal data
