Rural India Problems • Wide Economic & Digital divide between Urban and Rural India; gap widening • Lack of Health Care, Sanitation, Education & Infrastructure such as Electricity, Road and Transport • Inefficiencies in Agrarian Economy hurting Rural India Market realities • Producers exploited by merchants / money lenders with very high interest rates • Inadequate Transportation & Warehousing • Merchants prefer to sell through Commission agents • Contacts multiple locations to know the price and the demand and supply • Limits his operation based on the known agents territory • Procurement limited by his storage and handling capacity

Akshaya Agro Informatics, for Rural India Vision • To enable Frictionless Commerce of Agricultural/ Rural Products maximizing profitability across the extended supply chain using Information & Communications Technology Mission • Facilitate efficient Warehousing, Logistics and Settlement process • Provide Micro-financing, Development Loans, Crop Insurance, etc. • Establish Knowledge Networks linking Producers, Traders & Consumers to grow business & maximize revenue. • Promote Contract Farming • Provide Pre-Harvest Knowledge & Technology

Akshaya Agro Informatics Operational since Sept 2005 Current Status • Generating multi-million (INR) transaction revenue in South India • Rest of India expansion underway • Middlemen and Merchants willing to use our service to expand their market share • Village trader is coopted as an associate of Akshaya to allay competitive fears • Farmers require immediate payment and material collection at their place and not willing for transporting to distance • Contract farming requires more convincing • ICT framework in Planning stage

Bridge India Ventures Objective of the Fund:  To invest in Rural Enterprises in India Need: As not  much equity funding happening in rural areas Reason: Dearth of funds in the sector & stage of investment Fundfocus: • Investment in any rural enterprise that focuses on Health, Power, Dairy, Agriculture, Horticulture in Rural India. • Also on Rural Infrastructure and support services, supply chain & logistics for rural produce, post harvest marketing, vegetables & fruits processing Mechanism: • Work closely with Banks, institutions, multilateral agencies andlocal bodies including NGOs to create businesses with co-funding from these bodies that helps to draw not just money but also value add from allinvestors concerned
