  1. Latest Law Updates In India The Supreme Court will soon be linked to the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG), a repository of data relating to the pendency of cases and disposal rate of courts right from the taluka level to the national level, Justice D Y Chandrachud said on Monday. At present, the portal shows data only up to the High Court level.

Delhi High Court today reserved judgment in a plea challenging the Central Information Commission's (CIC) order dismissing an RTI appeal seeking the agenda of the Supreme Court Collegium's meeting on December 12, 2018, when certain decisions were purportedly taken on elevation of judges to the Apex Court.

  4. The Kerala High Court has today directed that no new permanent flag masts be installed in the state until the government comes out with its proposed policy or regulations for regulating the same. While issuing the direction, Justice DevanRamachandran also made it clear that District Collectors and Secretaries of Local Self Government Institutions "are still enjoined to act as per the Land Conservancy Act" against the existing or any new illegal flag masts and need not wait for formulation of the policy or regulations.

A Court in Indore District of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday sentenced six people including Congress leader Digvijaya Singh to one year's rigorous imprisonment in a case related to a clash with protesting workers of the BharatiyaJanataYuvaMorcha (BJYM) in 2011.   6. A Delhi Court on Tuesday summoned BJP leader Subramanian Swamy in a criminal complaint filed by party's spokesperson for Delhi Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga for allegedly defaming him. A two-judge Bench of Justice IndiraBanerjee and Justice JK Maheshwari has pronounced a split verdict on whether Court's permission is required for investigating an offence under Section 23 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO) for revealing the victim's identity. A two-judge bench of Justice DineshMaheshwari and Justice VikramNath while placing reliance on various precedents has held that in a suit for damages, ad valorem Court-fees would be payable on the amount of damages claimed. Respondent - Plaintiff had retired as DDPO and was the youngest freedom fighter in the Quit India Movement but he was denied a certificate of 'Freedom Fighter' by the authorities due to which his grandson could not claim the benefits of the same. He filed two Writ Petitions before the Chandigarh High Court against the non-issuance of the certificate out of which one was allowed and the other was disposed of.
