  1. What is NAMS? • The NASA Account Management System is NASA’s centralized process for requesting and maintaining accounts for NASA IT systems and applications. • Provides a secure, consistent, expedient, and accurate account management environment across the Agency in support of One NASA and HSPD-12 • NAMS will eventually be the only way to obtain access to NASA IT systems and applications • You will continue to use CICO to request physical assets (computers, desk phones, cell phones, etc.) • Integration of systems and applications into NAMS is a phased implementation, so both NAMS and CICO will be used in parallel for a time • Designed as a Web interface system for end users to not only create, but also modify and close existing accounts

  2. Your NAMS Role - Sponsor • Sponsors validate and review the business justification for User requests • All NAMS User requests will go through a Sponsor • The Sponsor will be responsible for managing the following: • New Access requests • Modify Access requests • Close Access requests • Account Disposition

  3. Your NAMS Responsibilities • Account Requests • Must have a working relationship and be familiar with the User’s job duties • All account requests must have a valid business justification to be approved • Check for accuracy of request including: detailed and correct justification, correct Account Expiration (maximum 1 year), and correct access permissions if available • Also have the ability to create an account request on the User’s behalf Note: Sponsors cannot assign themselves as their own Sponsors as NAMS will reject the request

  4. Your NAMS Responsibilities (Cont.) • Account Modification • Can be submitted by either the User or the Sponsor • Expiration date and User’s access permissions can be modified • Business justification to explain why the change is required must be provided • Account Closing • Email notification will be sent out 30 days prior to account expiration to both User and Sponsor • No action needed if account is intended to expire • Upon account expiration, Sponsor will once again be notified • Accounts can be closed at any time

  5. Your NAMS Responsibilities (Cont.) • Account Disposition • Responsible for the life cycle of the User account • Some files may require archiving – check with the Application Owner or Provisioner • Can also occur when User management is transferred to a new Sponsor
