What is an RSS Feed? • RSS=Really Simple Syndication, Rich Site Summary or RDF Site Summary • RSS is a web format for publishing frequently updated content • Often used for news and blog entries • File format is XML • A feed is an RSS document for one news source • Includes article text (full or summary) and metadata • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS_(file_format) • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/News_feed RSS Feeds by Greg Vogl, CSU Libraries

Subscribing to Feeds • Find RSS links in Web pages • Web browsers: click RSS links, Subscribe • Other readers: copy RSS links to paste later • Outlook: right-click RSS Feeds, click Add a New RSS Feed • Google Reader: click Add Subscription • My Yahoo!: click Add Content, Add RSS Feed RSS Feeds by Greg Vogl, CSU Libraries
