They also help link surface and seafloor oil and gas equipment for power, controls, and heat. • The umbilical industry growth is also influenced by the increasing application scope in ultra-deepwater and HP/HT environments. Several solution providers operating in this space are placing efforts on securing contracts for power subsea boosting and compression and offering electrical power, electric & fibre-optic signals, and hydraulic & chemical injection fluids to the subsea unit. For instance, in November 2021, Aker Solutions won a sizeable contract from Chevron Australia Pty Ltd for delivering the dynamic subsea umbilicals for Jansz-Io, the subsea gas compression development, offshore Australia.

When deployed in static and dynamic applications in shallow water, subsea umbilicals deliver power and data, hydraulic and other fluids. They also ensure reliable control of subsea wells, oil extraction and power in the most adverse marine environments. • Shallow • The thriving need for fully integrated T&I (transport and installation) solutions for fixed offshore oil as well as gas production structures in shallow waters will bolster the umbilical industry outlook. In August 2019, ADNOC contracted Aker Solutions for supplying subsea umbilicals for the Dalma gas development project across the shallow waters offshore in the UAE. The increase in challenges posed by transport and installation of fixed offshore oil as well as gas production structures owing to the adverse soil conditions and hostile marine environments will anchor the product demand.
