  1. School is over, summer’s hereBut learning never ends! Good Shepherd Lutheran Early Childhood Center Week Three of Summer Fun 2014 Bible Story: Dorcas (Tabitha) and Lydia Theme: What shall I wear?

  2. After Gathering Time, we go outside from 9 – 10:45 a.m. We play and learn, get exercise and fresh air, and enjoy God’s creation. “This is the way we wash our clothes.” Students were able to wash doll clothes, rinse, and hang them on the clothesline. Using those clothespins is good for exercising those finger muscles that help with writing.

  3. More fun outsideBaseball, painting with water, tool time, girl time!

  4. The Color PurpleThe Bible tells us that Lydia was a believer who sold purple cloth. So we had fun with purple this week. We praised God with purple streamers, painted with purple, drew with purple, drank purple cows (grape juice and milk) and ate purple grapes.

  5. Water Day!Pools, sprinklers, bubbles, snacks and plenty of sun!

  6. Dramatic PlayFrom working together to paint a monster with water to creating a shopping list in the playhouse, imaginations got plenty of exercise!Creating mountains in the sand table is fun, too.

  7. Time for lunchWe tried something new this week – ham, cheese and fruit kabobs. These boys went hunting for items to make a pretend lunch outside. Their eagle eyes spotted wild strawberries and a flower they called grapes. They pulled some weeds to make a cake according to JR, but HS says it’s vegetables.

  8. What shall we wear?Lydia was a seller of purple cloth and Dorcas sewed clothes for widows and orphans. We talked about what types of clothes to wear for different types of weather and used clothing as a springboard for other learning activities. Above, sewing like Dorcas with lacing cards. Upper right, matching clothes to the correct season. Right, matching the number of buttons to the numeral on the shirt.

  9. MusicWe have been using the xylophone to sing our Trinity song for Jesus time each day. The students are learning to play it themselves. They also enjoy using the instruments and singing on their own. GM made her own songbook.
