  1. Class of 2020 Due Process presentation August 13, 2019

  2. SENIOR YEAR… • 220 credits needed to graduate • 180 credits req’d to take 6 classes • Can’t afford to fail a class

  3. Schedule Changes • Immediate Problems...missing a class/no English • email us or come see us ASAP • Not Allowed...teacher/period changes • Dropping Honors/AP...is there a seat in regular? • ERWC!

  4. More Schedule Notes • Open Classes: • 0 period and 1 Admin of Justice • 1-3 period Digital Marketing through Social Media(CSU/UC G elective) • 4th and 5th Business Management Entrepreneurship (CSU/UC G elective) • 5th Robotics • 5th/6th periods Work Experience (meets for 2 weeks, then every Mon) • If you think you are missing a graduation requirement, see your GLC immediately

  5. ATTENDANCE • This is a closed campus- you must always check into the attendance office if you arrive late to school. If you need to leave early, you must check out through the attendance office. • You must clear all-day long absences within 2 days. • Period absences must be cleared by brunch of the next day. • Clearing absences is your responsibility. You need to bring a note into the attendance office or have your parents call. • What if I don’t get my absence cleared in time? • You will be assigned a detention or a SWAP depending on how many hours of school you missed. • OVER SLEEPING IS NOT A CLEAREDABSENCE, you will receive a detention for every period you miss

  6. Senior Parking • You must have a DBHS parking decal on your windshield to park in the senior lot. • Parking decals are available through Mrs. Tampio in the Guidance Office • School ID • Drivers License • Proof of insurance (your name needs to be on there) • Spots are 1st come,1st served basis daily • Get your parking decal by the end of this week • Parking in the Senior Lot is a privilege, not a right.

  7. Athletic pass or early release sticker • You must have this with you every day to leave early. • If you forget your ID and you absolutely have to leave, go to the Guidance Office to receive a detention and you will be cleared to leave. • Do not put yourself in a bad position by lying to a staff member or borrowing someone else’s pass. This is going to earn you a day in SWAP, STAR, or possibly a suspension. • Students without a 5th or 6th period need to leave campus after their last period ends. If you need to stick around one day, go to the lower lunch area or the amphitheater. You are not allowed to wander campus. • Students leaving during 4th, you must exit at the main entrance. (5th and 6th period students can exit through stadium gate)

  8. TARDIES • Tardy Policy: • Everyone receives 3 “free” tardies for each class at the start of the semester. Save them for emergencies!! • Tardy #4, #5, and #6- Detention • Tardy #7, #8- SWAP • Tardy #9- STAR • Tardy #10-Suspension

  9. Tardy Sweeps • Tardy Sweeps will occur regularly. If you aren’t INSIDE the classroom at the bell, you will be “swept up” and assigned a detention. Yes, even if it’s the first time you’ve ever been tardy. • The only way to avoid a tardy sweep is to be on time every day to every class.

  10. Referrals • Take the referral directly to your GLC. Do not make a situation worse by arguing or making a scene. • If your GLC is not in their office, do not just sit and wait around. Take the referral immediately to the Guidance Office. • If you fail to report to your GLC or the Guidance Office, the consequence will increase.

  11. Detentions & SWAPS • If you can’t make your detention or SWAP, let us know beforehand! We can work with your schedule. If you don’t show up and there has been no communication…uh-oh. • If you miss a detention, it becomes a SWAP • If you miss a SWAP, it becomes a day in STAR

  12. Dress Code • No hats or headgear unless it is DBHS • No hoods unless it is raining • Nothing that can be construed as gang attire • No inappropriate pictures or writing • No halter tops, midriffs, strapless, or one shoulder tops • No clothing that reveals undergarments (see through, lace, etc) • If you think it might violate dress code, don’t wear it!

  13. Cheating • Ways to cheat? • 1st incident- ZERO on the assignment/test, a cheating contract. Respect from parents, teachers, & peers has been compromised. • 2nd incident- Suspension • If you cheat or do anything sneaky/inappropriate while serving as a TA, you will be dropped from the class and suspended.

  14. CELLPHONES

  15. Cellphones cont’d • Cellphones are never to be used in class. Your phone should be powered down or put on silent mode before entering a classroom. The phone needs to remain in your purse or backpack throughout the ENTIRE class. • Students that are caught using their cell phone during class time will receive one hour of SWAP for a first offense. Students that continue to violate the cell phone policy will receive multiple hours of SWAP or a day in STAR. • This applies to iPods/MP3 players, earpods, etc. • You are free to use your cell phone: • Before school • After school • Brunch • Lunch • Use social media responsibly! • Campus Security Cameras!

  16. ZERO TOLERANCE • Fighting- no matter who starts it • Intimidation or threats (including the internet) • Theft or possession of stolen goods • Possession or being under the influence of drugs or arranging the sale or purchase of drugs (vapes) • Weapons of any kind • Possession or being under the influence of alcohol on campus or at any campus event • Defiance or disrespect • Sexual harassment • Fire alarm- suspension, police called
