    1. Usr-Maat-Ra Setep-en-Ra Ra-messu-Meri-Amun or Ramses II By: Olivia

    2. Background He was born in 1279 B.C. Ramses II was son of Seti I He was appointed general at ten Around 30 when became pharaoh He reigned for 67 years He was in the 19th dynasty

    3. Wives and Children Ramses II had about twenty wives He had around 162 children One of his wives was a Hittite princess Some of his wives were close relatives His favorite wife was Nefertari

    4. War He fought against Syria and the Hittites The war lasted for twenty years Neither side won the war Both sides developed a peace treaty Thirteen years after the treaty, he married a Hittite princess

    5. Temple of Abu Simbel Ramses II made a temple on the Nile It was dedicated to Amun, Ra- Harmachis, and Ptah The temple was made out of rock It was 185 feet in length 90 feet was its height He made statues of himself, which were 60 feet high Many wives and children were on the temple

    6. Death Ramses II died in 1213 B.C. Putting his name on every statue made him well-known He was buried in the Valley of the Kings His tomb is now empty After he died, Egypt fell apart Ramses II had arthritis, heart disease, and tooth decay

    7. Big Question The person in Egypt I would most want to talk to is Nefertari, Ramses IIs favorite wife. I would like to talk to her and ask her what it was like being a pharaohs wife. I think she wouldve answered that it was nice, because the pharaohs always are pampered and spoiled. But, I think she wouldve said that it was sort of annoying looking after hundreds of kids, and having your husband have more wives then you.
