  2. Integrated Food Safety System Vision Public Health & Regulatory partners work collaboratively across all jurisdictions to provide comprehensive, coordinated coverage of the food supply from farm to table to prevent foodborne illness in humans and animals.

  4. MFRPS • Partnership between State programs and FDA. • 2007 started with 5 pilot states. • Developed as a result of the 2000 OIG report. “FDA Oversight of State Food Firm Inspections” • FDA will use the program standards as a tool to improve contracts with states. • Pillar of IFSS

  5. One- Regulatory Foundation State has the legal authority to; • Perform inspections/investigations • Gather evidence • Collect samples • Take enforcement actions Assisting in a uniform IFSS

  6. Two – Training Program ORA’s Division of Human Resource Development District CSO and state field staff conducting joint inspections and joint audits.

  7. Three – Inspection Program District and State collaboration on recalls. Leveraging inspectional resources. Yearly work plan State contract monitors/liaisons OEI coordinators States were contracted to perform 10,500 inspections last year.

  14. Ten – Laboratory Support OO/ORS commitment to State labs ISO accreditation

  15. Audit team Formed as a separate team in January 2012 Not viewed as a pass fail test, rather as verification of progress made by states in conforming to the MFRPS.

  16. Updating the Standards Office of Operations would like to see developing a more auditable version of the MFRPS in the next update. Include performance measures and metrics.
