Significant leader or mentor • Think of a leader or mentor that is / was significant to you • The leader may not have held a leadership title, but was influential in developing your views of effective leadership • Consider: • What were the qualities of the leader that were influential? • Write each quality of the effective leader on separate post-it notes • 5-10 qualities per person • In pairs, discuss some of the qualities you identified • As a group, add your post-its to the relevant leadership quadrant Understanding how I lead others |3

Cosmo Quiz – Your leadership style • Individually, complete the Leadership Quiz handout • 25 statements • Rate each statement from 1 (untrue) to 10 (true) • Example • Q1: I don’t need to be in charge of a group, but I enjoy making detailed plants that everyone will carry out • Self-rating: 7 • Q2: I am the nurturing type who takes care of everyone • Self rating: 4 • Q3: I am the listener. I hear what people are saying and make sure everyone has a voice • Self rating: 8 Understanding how I lead others |5

Cosmo Quiz – Scoring • Next to each question, write the relevant domain code: • Tally up the scores for each of the leadership domains • Put each score in the corresponding box on your quiz e.g. • The domain with the highest score is your most dominant leadership style Understanding how I lead others |6
