Canada’s safety promotion Training: Transport Canada has a program for the development and delivery of basic, advanced, and refresher training, including SMS, QA, interview skills and related specialty courses Communication: Transport Canada has well-established practices in place for internal and external communication and is developing a policy to formalize this communication Dissemination of safety information: Transport Canada has a program in place for safety promotion and awareness. An aviation safety newsletter is published four times a year to promote safety awareness. The newsletter is distributed to employees and industry stakeholders and available on the civil aviation web site. Conclusion and Next Steps • Work continue to finalize ICAO’s State Safety Plan requirements • Canada has main elements of an SSP in place: regulations, standards, guidelines, education to promote a safety and harmonized aviation system • Canada is well-placed to meet the ICAO standard, when it comes into effect
