  2. Introduction - about 200 selectedlocalities in theCzechRepublic, chosen on behalfofthe EU directive 2000/60/ES, whichprovidesactivities in thefieldofwaterpolicy Selected localities are morphologically and hydrologically suitable areas for accumulation of surface moisture in the case of attended climatic change and global water crisis. engstova@knc.czu.cz

  3. 30 selectedlocalities The project should estimate effects of the special territorial protection in reference to limits of the area List of these areas is the annexe of the Plan of main catchment areas of the Czech Republic engstova@knc.czu.cz

  4. Specialterritorialprotection … • there are severalrestrictionsofactivitiesoverthisareas • Landscapeandterritorialplanning • The research proceeds on three levels: • environmental (evaluation of landscape and its functionality, environmental criteria), • social (social structure, public opinion) and • economical (calculation of social-economic impact on landscape functions) engstova@knc.czu.cz

  5. Maingoaloftheproject • to evaluateefficiencyandsuitabilityoftheterritorialprotectionoflocalitiesdeterminedfordevelopmentofwaterresources • Inventionof a newmethodologyofecologicalvulnerabilityclassificationoftheareasprotectedfordevelopmentofwaterresources • Themethodologydesigningwillbebased on biologicalandsocio-economicalanalysesofrepresentative sample ofsuitablelocalitiesacrosstheCzechRepublic engstova@knc.czu.cz

  6. Results • partial results • professional studies of the examined localities: • landscape and environmental assessment, • sociological assessment, • economical analysis • main result • complex multi-departmental analysis of the territorial protection impact to the natural conditions, local residents and economical development of the localities Final results and methodology will be used by local authorities, residents, businessman and others to better understand interrelations between water resources and land-use. engstova@knc.czu.cz

  7. Student‘s participation • Bachelor thesis • Literature retrieval • Web sources analysis • Land use mapping • Vectorisation (GIS) engstova@knc.czu.cz

  8. Student‘s participation • Master thesis • Literature retrieval • Land use mapping • Vectorisation • GIS analysis engstova@knc.czu.cz 12.1.2011

  9. Student‘s participation • PhD students • Workshops / seminars • Data collection • Data processing • Conference participation • Other scientific publications engstova@knc.czu.cz

  10. Conclusion • Combination of multi disciplinary approach should lead towards interesting results, utilise in future landscape planning in the affected areas • Project offers possibility to involve students of all degrees engstova@knc.czu.cz
