1. Statute of Limitations & Promissory Estoppel • Stature of Limitations – Common law legal systems usually have a statute limiting the time for prosecution of a debt or designated as misdemeanors to two years after the event occurred. • If a person is discovered to have committed a misdemeanor three years later, they cannot be prosecuted, even if enough evidence is available to meet the standard of proof • Promissory Estoppel - when a person makes a false statement to another and the listener relies on what was told to him/her in good faith and to his/her disadvantage

2. Case Presentation Assignment • Student teams(2 students per team) must research legal cases that involve statute of limitations and promissory estoppel. Each team will then produce a presentation that: • describes all activities associated with the case • defines promissory estoppel or statute of limitations • Presentation Guidelines: • Case Background • Facts / Activities involving consideration • Statute of Limitations or Promissory Estoppel in case • Ruling or Judgment • Include Pictures and examples when possible
