  2. Varun Datta USA Varun launched 4NEW in 2017, as a sustainable blockchain ecosystem powered by waste to energy power plants. In 2018,[2]Varun launched his own KWATT tokens which facilitate tokenized electricity to transact over the blockchain network. His firm has also invested in two new plants in the UK recently to harness Etherium and Bitcoin by the means of waste management. In 2018, 4NEW secured two operational waste-to-energy power plants in the United Kingdom selling the energy to the UK National Grid. Working on anaerobic digestion technology, the power plant's process converts regular waste and feedstock into electricity. The two power plants are in Middlesbrough and Hartlepool in the UK with further plans to open power plants in Sheffield, Hertfordshire, and Newcastle. In November 2017, 4NEW secured a $30 million private equity institutional investment round from Mirach Capital. He is also associated with energy purchasing, waste reduction, and offsetting the energy burdens of mining through waste to energy plants in the United Kingdom.
