  2. Recruitment Required FACT: • There are 35,000 AARP Tax-Aidevolunteers • There are13AARP paid staff

Communication Coordinator • Identifies program needs in their district such as: • Recruitment of leaders, counselors • Assessment of Sites • In-kind Donations of Equipment/Supplies • Works with District and Local Coordinators to oversee development and implementation of AARP Tax-Aide Partnerships: • Ensures that AARP Tax-Aide honors its side of the partnership • Ensures that all local-level program materials (internal and external) contain boilerplate language • Builds a local file of media contacts, including newspapers, radio and television

Advantages of Partnerships • More volunteers, more experience, more correct answers to more questions, more coaching, less dead time, more flexible scheduling, less overhead • Greater ability to accommodate • Complex/lengthy client returns • Client “no-shows” & “walk-ins” • Counselor last minute unavailability • Computers are used for multiple shifts & counselors
