  8. www.nwleics.gov.uk What did the election feel like? • A bit of a musical performance • Composers – Home Office and Electoral Commission • Performing singers and promoters – PAROS as the only act on the bill • Support bands/orchestras - LROs

  9. Composers • Composing something quite different to before • Have changed the date of the event • Given some outline of the “musical score” without the full detail • Expect the final performance to be perfect • Will take legal action if it is not

  10. PARO role • To understand and “guess” what the musical score is rather than wait. • To treat all LROs and election staff as equals • First meeting 14th February 2012

  11. “One Team” • Meet regularly • Joint decisions – one team • Signed undertaking to mitigate risks • Bespoke joint training sessions • Regular dialogue and discussion • Joint protocols • Shared time to think and prepare

  13. Lessons learned from the performance: Directions – less is more Be flexible –what works for one, may not work for another Acknowledge local issues Experience – there is a lot of it out there. Don’t be afraid to ask Enjoy, celebrate successes Focus on what you know www.nwleics.gov.uk
