  6. Chemical constituents 1.The young fresh leaves contain Cathinone (Alkaloid- alkaloidal amine group). 2. The old leaves contain Norpseudoephedrine (80%) &norephedrine(20%). Main slide

  7. Physiological effects • Cathinone: 1- Have a similar effect to amphetamine. 2- CNS stimulant inhibitor. 3- Anorexic effect . • Norpseudoephedrine and norephedrine are decongestants Main slide

  8. N.B ! • This plant causes hallucination. • WHO (World Health Organization ): doesn't classify KHAT leaves as drug that produced habituation or addiction. Main slide
