  1. UCF Green Team “Educate Today for a Greener Tomorrow”

  2. Group Members • Peter Basak • Tanya Clark • Caty Harris • Tina Keesee • Scot Macdonald • Michell Warren

  3. The Client • Our client is the University of Florida Brevard County Extension Service • Location: Building adjacent to the BCC Day-Care building, along the service entrance road to BCC Palm Bay. • Their goal: “to provide scientific knowledge and expertise to the public through educational programs.”

  4. Smart Goal • By November 14th, UCF Green Team will raise $600 to provide financial resources and construct the hardscapes for the University of Florida’s Brevard County Extension Services project “Education Garden.” • Where we stand is that we have completed the Initiation Phase. We have met with our Client for the first time, completed the website – short of updates – and researched the costs of materials needed to complete our goals for the project.

  5. The Project • The UF Extension building has a plot of land they want to be turned into an “educational garden.” • Currently, there are several bamboo trees and other “Florida friendly” plants on site. • The UF contact has a multi-phase project in mind for the plot. • Ultimately, they wish to have a lush garden, filled with various “Florida friendly” plants and trees, each with information on the plant and how it benefits the environment.

  6. The Project – Cont. • They also plan to have a “smart irrigation” system throughout the garden. • The idea is to teach children, and adults, proper gardening techniques, as well as environmentally friendly habits each home owner can use. • The UF Extension service also plans to use the area for local 4-H groups.

  7. Our Responsibilities • UCF Green Team is going to take charge of completing the “first phase” of the project. • We will first fund raise to acquire the necessary funds to complete our goals. • The next step is to complete the framework for the garden, which is the ultimate goal we intend to complete with this project. • Specific examples are laying out the pathways, building arbors at both entrances, constructing the fence, and constructing a picnic table.

  8. Our Project Website • http://ucfgreenteam.weebly.com/ • Constructed and maintained by: Peter Basak • Home page will list updates and upcoming events. • About Us contains information about our group and what we’re doing. • The Gallery will list a series of pictures that show the progress of our group. • Files will have available for download all documents related to our project. • The blog will allow communication between the group and the community.
