  3. Sam Francis (USA, 1923 – 1994) Samuel Lewis Francis(June 25, 1923, California – November 4, 1994, California) was an American painter and printmaker. This artist was influenced by Abstract Expressionism and is closely associated with Color field painting. His paintings are very large, at first monochrome, but later using oil paintings with splashed or splattered areas of bright contrasting colours.
