  1. ‘Smart-ScanTM’ Technology The evolution of barcode scanners to programmable data terminals.

  2. ‘Smart-ScanTM’ Overview • ‘Smart-Scan’ - What is it? • Javascript programming within scanner • Provides data filtering/formatting before transfer to the PC. • Primary Advantages • Eliminate IT costs of reprogramming existing Enterprise software systems. • Replace PCs and PocketPC terminals with simple scanner hardware.

  3. ‘Smart-ScanTM’ Applications • Scenario: Enterprise software requires input of UII data structure instead of raw UID barcode data • Solution: Auto-format raw scanned UID syntax to UII via scanner UII.js code BEFORE transfer to PC. [)>▲12↔MFR 1RWL9↔SER 1234567890▲♦ becomes….D1RWL91234567890

  4. ‘Smart-ScanTM’ Applications • Scenario: Existing enterprise software works with legacy SPEC 2000 data format, but not with new ISO-15434 structure. • Solution: Auto-format raw scanned UID or new Spec 2000 syntax to legacy Spec 2000 format via scanner UII2K.js code BEFORE transfer to PC. [)>▲12↔MFR 1RWL9↔SER 1234567890▲♦ becomes….MFR 1RWL9/SER 1234567890

  5. ‘Smart-ScanTM’ Applications • Scenario: UID Verification can’t be performed on all incoming barcodes to assure valid barcode data structure • Solution: Use UII.js scanner application to screen barcodes for proper UII syntax. • Pass data ONLY for valid UID data syntaxOR….. • Auto-correct ‘minor’ UID syntax errors to keep production process from stopping.

  6. ‘Smart-ScanTM’ Applications • Other Possible Applications • PC-free inventory gathering/sorting • PC-free pack list check • Photo upload and archive

  7. ‘Smart-ScanTM’ Function • Scanner operates with MS-DOS analogy • Scanner boot-up with default.js file pointer to single javascript application. • Switch Javascript Applications with single configuration scan. • Application files are stored on scanner by IDI prior to shipment. • Barcode label provided to switch between applications quickly.

  8. ‘Smart-ScanTM’ Platforms • Javascript scanner programming available only on Code Corp platform. • Other Code Corp platform features • Mirrored, Inverse, Rectangular Data Matrix • 2-Color LED aiming (CodeCorp models only) • OCR font Text scanning

  9. ‘Smart-ScanTM’ Platforms

  10. ‘Smart-ScanTM’ Javascript • Application development requires simple text editor (Notepad). • Download to scanner via free utility • Can change default boot application • Switch applications with single scan

  11. Application Switching • Using Code Corp CR1200 • No Software or Drivers needed with USB Cable • Switch Javascript applications with single scan

  12. Siemens/Microscan Support • Javascript & OCR scanning are supported via optional licensing.

  13. CR1200 Capabilities • Single button, large imager • Beep/Vibrate, Red/Green LEDs • Wide Field of View – • Read small 7.5mil cell size • Read 8” long 1-D barcodes • Scans mirrored, inverse Data Matrix • OCR Text Scanning (license option) • Good Read Performance on many DPMs
