Bell Work Wednesday, August 15 Pick up handouts at door Take out your completed Vocabulary Worksheet Unit 1 If you haven’t already done so, turn in your signed syllabus sheet and forms. Put away any pens or pencils for the first activity. You will only use red pen.
Vocabulary worksheet Get into your groups in 10 seconds or less! Blue dot person: get the supply basket and the answer key Each student takes a red pen to correct their worksheet. Red dot person: Read out the answers while you write in the correct answers if you got it wrong. The teacher will come around to give homework credit for work completed Yellow dot person: Returns key and supply basket to front table. Return seats to rows and take out Root Word handouts and a pencil.
Root words, prefixes, & suffixes (rps) Write down the following definitions on the handout:
RPS Worksheet (CONTINUED) teacher will pass out the story Read the story “All About Penguins” and notice the words from the first page of your worksheet (#1-10) as they are used in context. Figure out and write down which word means what on the chart (on the back side of your handout) based on the context clues and the definitions of the root words, prefixes, and suffixes. Then copy the definitions of the 10 words from the chart on to the first side of your handout. Answer the remaining questions about the story. Pass forward the “All about Penguins” story and your completed worksheet in two piles. Put yours on top as it is passed forward.
Common lit article Read the article “Want to Get Into College? Learn to Fail” Finish reading the article at home if you don’t have time in class. Bring the article back tomorrow to continue work on. HOMEWORK: Work on your vocabulary flashcards – DUE FRIDAY Finish reading the article. Do NOT do the CommonLit assignment on Google Classroom yet.
