  1. Entertainment Industry in Pakistan

  2. Pakistan Drama Industry from gold to ashes So what happened to our dramas? Is it the Indian invasion, the onslaught of multimedia or the ubiquity of television that made our dramas lose the veneration that our parents speak of? “The television used to be a novelty back in the day, so anything that aired was viewed with enthusiasm,” says television director VasayChoudhary.

  3. “People typically ignore this crucial aspect when discussing the glory of old dramas. Yes they were good, but all of them were produced by the state television network where the drama teams were official employees and had enough time to take each project individually,” he explains. Choudhary believes that the mass production of television dramas has compromised the quality which was seen in dramas during the 90s.

  4. The younger lot of directors agrees that not every drama produced these days is a milestone, but argue that neither was every production from the previous years. “Fifteen dramas out of a myriad produced during the 30-year reign of state-run television stood out. If you compare it to the 11 memorable ones that stood out in the last three of four years, you will realise that the average is the same,” explains Choudhary. His peer Khoosat agrees, “Dramas like ‘MeriZaatZarra-e- Benishan’ and ‘Humsafar’ are currently enjoying the same status as dramas like ‘Tanhaiyan’ did for us. Our productions will also become memory for a whole different generation.”

  5. Cinemas in Pakistan Before the separation of Bangladesh, Pakistan had three main film production centers: Lahore, Karachi and Dhaka. Dhaka was lost after 1971. The regime of Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq , VCRs, film piracy, the introduction of entertainment taxes, and Islamic laws, have been some of the many obstacles to the industry's growth. Once thriving, the cinema in Pakistan now barely exists.

  6. The Pakistani film industry is credited with having produced some of the most notable and recognized filmmakers, actors, writers and directors, and for introducing pop music to South Asia and beyond. Competition from Bollywood and piracy, however, have led to the industry's decline.

  7. Sports Industry in Pakistan Field Hockey and Polo are the national sports of Pakistan but cricket is the most popular game. Traditional games like Kabaddi and other well known games are also played. The Pakistan Sports Board created in 1962 by the Ministry of Education as a corporate body for the purposes of promoting and developing uniform standards of competition in sports in Pakistan comparable to the standards prevailing internationally, and regulating and controlling sports in Pakistan on a national basis.

  8. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, now has control over the Pakistan Sports Board. The PSB controls all 39 sporting federations. Over recent years there has been an increase in sporting activity in Pakistan, with Pakistani sportsmen and women participating at many national and international events. Also, more international tournaments now take place in Pakistan. The size of the teams Pakistan sends, and the number of events they participate in the Olympic and Commonwealth Games has increased since the turn of the century.

  9. Science Industry in Pakistan

  10. In Pakistan, science and technology served as an important part of national politics, practices, and extreme national identities. From 1960s till the present, both science and technology were immediately linked to the national ideology and practical functioning of Pakistan, notably the Pakistan Armed Forces, while science and technology is a growing and flourishing field in Pakistan. Many scientists, who worked in India and United Kingdom like, e.g. RaziSiddiqui and SalimSiddiqui), migrated to Pakistan and helped give birth to science in Pakistan.

  11. Since its independence from Great Britain in 1947, the newly-found nation of Pakistan has seen a large influx of scientists, engineers, doctors, and technicians assuming an active role in its fields of science and technology. Liaquat Ali-Khan (office: 14 August 1947 – 16 October 1951), the first Prime Minister , invited hundreds of scientists from India and made various reforms to initiate improvement in higher education and scientific research.
