Formative Assessments • Gauging needs: review similar situations • Encouraging self-direction: Have several groups begin the project together and reward groups as they meet milestones • Monitor progress: Have groups compare what they have discovered • Checking for understanding: Check the groups work using a rubric and comparing the groups
