Propaganda- author is trying to influence you in a certain direction by telling you "Everybody else feels this way” Stereotype- taking a quality of one individual and applying it to every individual in the group Media Techniques- People who create audiovisual presentations can use special colors, camera angles, and sounds to influence you

  2. Bandwagon- "Everyone else is doing it, so you should too." Emotional Appeal- may appeal to fear, anger, or joy to sway their readers Euphemisms- vague term that is substituted for one considered harsh, blunt, or offensive ex. academy, university Glittering Generality- using positive words to get the audience to approve a person or idea ex. honor, glory, love of country

  3. Loaded words- used to trigger an emotion in the reader. Ex. peace, war, patriotism Name calling- when a person, or an idea, is called something negative Peer pressure- when a friend or social peer tries to convince you to do something

  4. Testimonial- using a third party to speak on behalf of an idea or a cause Transfer- when the authority of something respected is transferred to something that the seller wants to sell. Bias- A person who prefers one thing over another.
