  3. God’s Covenant with Israel What would happen if they broke the covenant? and if you reject my decrees and abhor my laws and fail to carry out all my commands and so violate my covenant, then I will do this to you: I will bring upon you sudden terror, ……(Leviticus 26:15-16 NIV) And I will bring the sword upon you to avenge the breaking of the covenant. When you withdraw into your cities, I will send a plague among you, and you will be given into enemy hands. (Leviticus 26:25 NIV) Prophecy made by Moses in 1400 B.C.

  4. God’s Covenant with Israel What would happen if they broke the covenant? All the nations will ask: "Why has the LORD done this to this land? Why this fierce, burning anger?" And the answer will be: "It is because this people abandoned the covenant of the LORD, the God of their fathers, the covenant he made with them when he brought them out of Egypt. They went off and worshiped other gods and bowed down to them, gods they did not know, gods he had not given them. Therefore the LORD's anger burned against this land, so that he brought on it all the curses written in this book. In furious anger and in great wrath the LORD uprooted them from their land and thrust them into another land, as it is now." (Deuteronomy 29:24-28 NIV) Prophecy made by Moses in 1400 B.C.

  5. Moses Fall of Jerusalem 30 A.D. 70 A.D. 1400 B.C. End of the nation of Israel Beginning of the nation of Israel God’s Covenant with Israel What would happen if they broke the covenant? I will turn your cities into ruins and lay waste your sanctuaries, and I will take no delight in the pleasing aroma of your offerings. (Leviticus 26:31 NIV) 1st Destruction & Captivity 606-586 B.C.

  6. Jeremiah (620 B.C.) Predicted the Captivity and the Return 70 years 1400 B.C.. 606-536 B.C. 70 A.D.

  7. HOWEVER, Moses Also Predicted a Final End for Israel The LORD saw this and rejected them because he was angered by his sons and daughters. "I will hide my face from them," he said, "and see what their end will be; for they are a perverse generation, children who are unfaithful. (Deuteronomy 32:19-20 NIV)  They are a nation without sense, there is no discernment in them. If only they were wise and would understand this and discern what their end will be! (Deuteronomy 32:28-29 NIV) Destruction of Jerusalem 1400 B.C.. 400 B.C.. 70 A.D.

  8. Daniel sees the Final End for Israel After the sixty-two 'sevens,' the Anointed One will be cut off and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. He will confirm a covenant with many for one 'seven.' In the middle of the 'seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing of the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him." (Daniel 9:26-27 NIV)  1st Destruction & Captivity Destruction of Jerusalem 1400 B.C.. 70 A.D. 536 B.C..

But at that time your people-- everyone whose name is found written in the book-- will be delivered. (Daniel 12:1 NIV)  But you, Daniel, close up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end. Many will go here and there to increase knowledge." (Daniel 12:4 NIV)  The man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, lifted his right hand and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard him swear by him who lives forever, saying, "It will be for a time, times and half a time. When the power of the holy people has been finally broken, all these things will be completed." (Daniel 12:7 NIV)  He replied, "Go your way, Daniel, because the words are closed up and sealed until the time of the end. (Daniel 12:9 NIV)

  10. Malachi Predicts the Baptism of Fire But I tell you, Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but have done to him everything they wished. In the same way the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands." Then the disciples understood that he was talking to them about John the Baptist. (Matthew 17:12-13) "Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and that day that is coming will set them on fire," says the LORD Almighty. "Not a root or a branch will be left to them. But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall. Then you will trample down the wicked; they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I do these things," says the LORD Almighty. "Remember the law of my servant Moses, the decrees and laws I gave him at Horeb for all Israel. "See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse." (Malachi 4:1-6 NIV)

It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they did not remain faithful to my covenant, and I turned away from them, declares the Lord. … … …By calling this covenant "new," he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear. (Hebrews 8:8-13 NIV)

  37. Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ, 'and will deceive many. Josephus – Eyewitness and Historian There was another body of wicked men gotten together, not so impure in their actions, but more wicked in their intentions, which laid waste the happy state of the city. These were men who deceived and deluded the people under pretense of Divine inspiration, but were for seeking innovations and changes of the government; and these prevailed with the multitude to act like madmen, and went before them into the wilderness, as pretending that God would there show them the signals of liberty. … … But there was a false prophet that did the Jews more mischief than the former; he was a cheat, and pretended to be a prophet also and got 30,000 men that were deluded by him

  45. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. (Matthew 24:14 NIV) Was the gospel preached to “all nations” in the first century? if indeed you continue in the faith firmly established and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel that you have heard, which was proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, was made a minister. (Colossians 1:23 NASB)

  46. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. (Matthew 24:14 NIV) Was the gospel preached to “all nations” in the first century? the gospel, which has come to you, just as in all the world also it is constantly bearing fruit and increasing, even as it has been doing in you also since the day you heard of it and understood the grace of God in truth; (Colossians 1:5-6 NASB)

  47. "Therefore when you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains; (Matthew 24:15-16 NASB) "But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then recognize that her desolation is at hand. "Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, and let those who are in the midst of the city depart, and let not those who are in the country enter the city; (Luke 21:20-21 NASB)
