  1. Repent, the Prince of Peace is at hand(Matthew 3:1-12)

  2. To be the Spiritual leader • Am I spoiled because my mother cooks for me? • She is my spiritual alarm clock. When I wake up, she leads me to have the early morning service. • Be the spiritual leader to our family. • As we praise the Lord, our home will be filled with peace and joy, and our children will not be spoiled but grow up under God’s protection and blessings.

  3. The Sunday of Peace • This is the Sunday of the candle of peace and the Sunday of John the Baptist crying out in the wilderness. • How Is John the Baptist related to the lesson of peace? • He points out to peace; his message turns our attention to look at Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace.

  4. Clean our hearts • John the Baptist is something of an eccentric. • 1) He was a young man, about 30 years old, with shaggy hair, funny clothing, and a loud and angry voice. • 2) He ate a strange diet of locusts and wild honey; he just ate whatever was around him- he would have done very well on the television series “Survivor.” • 3) He cries out to open the windows and start spring-cleaning our houses.

  5. “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near” (v. 2). • We are spiritually dead! • What sorts of things have been stored in our hearts. • 1) Dominated by the worldly concerns? • 2) Ignorance, greed, and anger have accumulated? • 3) Worries and fears spread everywhere in our hearts? • 4) Faith, love, and love have been grimy; they barely in the light of the sun. How do we want to respond to his message? • “Don’t tell me what I can do. This is my house, my life. Just get out of my business!” • “You are telling the truth. Thanks for helping me to see my problem. I will go and fix it!”

  6. The gift of the Holy Spirit Why repent right now? • It is the time to repent and time to clean up because the holy and righteous One is coming! • “[When the Messiah comes,] he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire” (v. 11). The gift of the Holy Spirit : • The power of life/ the power of revival/ the power of growth/ the power to sustain, restore, and keep our lives going on! For all those blessings, • we should first take out the rubbish of all sins, rake the leaves of all troubles, and shovel the driveway of faith, that Christ will come into our hearts and shine and strengthen our lives by the power of the Holy Spirit.
