  3. Intellectually Disabled Program(Tootsie Rolls) • Chairmen: John Strawbridge/Mike Thumm • A signature program of the K of C • Order Tootsie Rolls & supplies NOW • Appoint a Chairman by August 1st • Have your plan ready by September 1st • Think outside the box

  4. Intellectually Disabled Program(Tootsie Rolls) • WHEN YOU’RE FINISHED: • Send check and a list of recipients to State no later than December 31st • Set up award date/event promptly • Publicize the effort and thank the community for their support - Letter to local paper is a great way

  5. Senior Activities • Chairman: Luther Holley • Sponsor at least one event per quarter • One-time events • Senior Citizen Day, Day Trip, etc. • Ongoing program • Periodic socials, help with errands, etc. • Only one report required

  6. Special Olympics • Chairman: John Durbin • Events statewide all year long • Polar Bear Plunge, Regional meets, etc. • Notices posted via Yahoo group • Invite Ladies and children to participate • Many ways to help • Parking cars, huggers, registration, etc. • Rewards outweigh the effort.

  7. Wheelchair Program • Chairman: John Cantrell • Partnered with Wheelchair Foundation • Benefit local needy and veterans • Council can recommend specific donation • Every $75.00 donation is matched • $150.00 buys one wheelchair • Sponsor a fundraiser to benefit Program

  8. Catholic Teacher/Citizen of the Year • Chairman: Jim Gallagher • 2 separate awards • Begin to compile candidates early • Nominees must be Maryland residents • Awarded at Founder’s Day Reception • Submit nominations by February 1st • Consider council award event as well

  9. Police, Firefighter, EMT of the Year • Chairman: Jim Gallagher • 3 separate awards • Can be professional or volunteer • Solicit input from local departments • Awarded at Founder’s Day Reception • Submit nominations by February 1st • Consider council award event as well
