Francisco Jimenez -immigrated from Mexico with his family in the 1940’s -as a child, he worked as a farm laborer -B.A. from Santa Clara University -M.A. and PhD from Columbia University -written several books on Latin American literature -His books The Circuit, Breaking Through, and Reaching Out are all autobiographical

  3. Vocabulary migrant--a worker who moves from place to place to do seasonal work. braceros--a Mexican laborer admitted legally into the U.S. for a short period to perform seasonal, usually agricultural, labor. corridos--a Mexican ballad or folksong about struggle against oppression and injustice.

  4. Literary Term Inference: a conclusion reached on the basis of evidence and reasoning.
