  2. Description of the school . Nearly 90% of the students are from minority ethnic heritages. Predominant groups are of African, Caribbean, White British, and other White heritages. The proportion of students who speak English as an additional language is above average. The proportion of students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities is slightly lower than average. Their difficulties are mostly in the areas of social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. Over a quarter of students are eligible for free school meals. Embedding Mandarin Start in 2004 all year seven do one term of mandarin 2005 two groups of students learning Mandarin (30 students) Business Chinese qualification(18) 2006 Split into two groups Potential GCSE Chinese (12) 2007 First GCSE group (11) Eight from the GCSE group, two from the Business Chinese group, one has done only one term of Mandarin
