  1. ARES THE GOD OF WAR Early life

  2. Ares early life Ares is the sole son of the supreme Greek god Zeus and his legitimate wife, Hera. Neither of his far-from-mild-mannered parents were said to be too fond of their even more irritable son; a little more loving nurturing from them might have resulted in Ares being just the god of minor conflicts.

  3. Young adult life. • Ares reveled in war and combat in all its forms, not caring about sides or victims. • Ares has hated Hercules ever since Hercules killed Ares' pets, the monstrous Stymphalian birds,[3] and his hatred increased when he noticed Hercules being favored by their father, while he was shunned for his brutal behavior.

  4. Adult life • Further adding to his hatred, is that in modern times, war is shunned and disliked, whereas Hercules is still beloved by the masses, despite his own history of death and destruction. • As the Romans took on worship of Greek gods and renamed them, Ares is also the deity Mars.

  5. Later life • Ares was the father of the water dragon that was killed by Cadmus. • The dragon’s teeth were sown into the ground and fully grown Spartans sprung up out of them. These Spartans were held to be the descendants of Ares. • Cadmus then married Harmonia, the daughter of Ares and founded the city of Thebes.

  6. Later life • Ares is also well known for the part he played in the Trojan War. • He was on the side of the Trojans, but he was injured by Athena, when she threw a huge boulder on him.

  7. The end • Or is it??
