  3. 1. Whatis ePhyto? It is the electronic transmission of phytosanitary certificate information (i.e. the electronic equivalent of a paper phytosanitary certificate). An ePhyto contains the same information and giving the same guarantee

  5. Benefits of ePhyto • More security (government to government) • Less fraud possible • Less mistakes in certificates • Replacements easier and faster • Single data entry (compatible with single window) • Re-use of data by government (e.g. customs) • Re-use of data by trade

  6. ePhyto, important elements to agree upon • Unique message format • Harmonisation of message contents (ISPM12) • Guarantee of secure transmission • Assurance of authenticity of the message
