  1. Your Fallopian Tube Recanalization Recovery If you have recently been diagnosed with fallopian tube blockage, there may a million thoughts running through your mind. What are your treatment options? How long will recovery take? Will you be able to become pregnant with surgery? These questions and more are all too necessary to go unanswered or with non-transparent responses. To better inform you of what fallopian tubes treatment are available and what you can expect from their procedures, our specialists at the USA Vascular Center have outlined expectations for your recovery. Following your diagnosis, your vascular specialist may offer you a variety of fallopian tubes treatment options. Most treatment options aim at removing what is currently blocking your fallopian tubes. Sometimes, this is due to scar tissue, vaginal debris, or disease and infection. While each patient who experiences blocked fallopian tubes may not require the same procedure, non-surgical treatment for blocked fallopian tubes is a readily available and effective option for most. At the USA Vascular Centers, our experienced vascular specialists perform fallopian tube recanalization (FTR) procedures on the majority of our patients who experience blocked fallopian tubes. With an increased chance of pregnancy afterwards, minimal risk of infection,

  2. and not requiring a surgical operation, FTR is one of the most effective and safe fallopian tubes treatment options we offer. The procedure is simple; performed in our clinic as an outpatient procedure, your vascular specialist will give you a mild sedative to relax and calm you. Once prepared, a real-time ultrasound will be used to visualize your uterus and fallopian tubes. Contrasting dye is then inserted into your fallopian tubes to pinpoint the exact location of the blockage. After located, your specialist will insert a catheter into the fallopian tube via your cervix. The catheter releases a metal wire that unblocks the fallopian tube, allowing the canal to operate normally. Within half an hour, your FTR treatment will be completed and you will be discharged from our clinic in the following two hours. What you can expect from this non-surgical treatment for blocked fallopian tubes depends on how they became blocked in the first place. For some women, mucus build-up leads to blocked fallopian tubes and, once having had the procedure, can expect to become pregnant in the coming months. Other women who experience blocked fallopian tubes due to infection, disease, or genetic predisposition, may see an increase in the chance of pregnancy but not provided with a guarantee. Likewise, some women require additional FTR procedures in the following 6 to 12 months due to reoccurring blockage of their fallopian tubes. If this is the case for your diagnosis, your chances of pregnancy will decrease. Outside of pregnancy, you can expect to resume your daily activities following the procedure with little to no discomfort. In some case, you may experience vaginal bleeding or swelling, though these symptoms will decrease throughout the days following the procedure.
