  1. Street Talk Brent Post Project Presentation Jenavi Omoma: Street Talk Project Co-ordinator Helena O’Connell: Young Addaction Services Manager

  2. At a Glance • Co-ordination & management of CRAFFT screening tool undertaken strategically across the borough by 4 community based voluntary groups • Promoted multi-agency work & establishment of referral pathways into tier 3 treatment • Allowed for dissemination of Addaction specialist training & information

  3. Added Value • Partnership work between Addaction & the 4 organisations are representative of the voluntary sector spectrum • Enables us to work with client groups traditionally hard to reach/engage with • Allows for more amorphous referral pathways into appropriate tiers of treatment • Beacon project where there is scope for a project toolkit to be developed & rolled out for other substance misuse services • Prevents a fragmented approach to working whilst promoting a holistic approach to working with YP with complex issues

  4. Rationale for Street Talk Brent Promotes early intervention through identification of possible substance misuse and/or criminality amongst young people Empowering professionals within the voluntary sector with skills & knowledge on conducting brief interventions (Motivational Interviewing) Tailoring interventions to the identified needs of the young people screened

  5. Local Groups • Harbi Farah (Help Somailia Foundation) • ZacDarwood (P3 Navigator) • Keith Lunn (OK Club) • FekaSamakuva (Concrete Canvas Arts)

  6. Post Street Talk • Legacy of specialist knowledge imparted upon the voluntary sector • Addaction has its own ‘bank’ of tier 1 & 2 drug & alcohol practitioners • Raised awareness of our service amongst hard to engage & at risk young people • Provides a platform for participative care plans to be formulated • Findings illustrate patterns of drug use amongst YP enabling subsequent appropriate intervention to be made
