  1. Millions of Moon Facts(or at least 27 anyway) By the Students of C2

  2. High tides A high tide happens when a first or third quarter moon is up and it forces the water out. Sometimes you can see the moon and some times you can’t. when you can the moon is closer but when you can’t the moon is farther. By Shawn Fanslau

  3. Solar eclipseby Joe Gangloff A solar eclipse can only occur when a new moon phases between the earth and the sun. when the new moon faces the earth it is also going in front of the sun. you don’t know what I mean here are a few pictures to help. Space view earth view Thank you Google images and

  4. Low TidesBy Brendan Persicketti • The tides are caused by the moon swaying and turning. When the moon turns toward us, the tides are high but when it turns away the tides are stretched and are low. Tides are usually around 6 hours apart. The moon stretches the water out and makes it wider but lower. That is basically how the tides are made. It pulls on all water, everywhere. That is how tides form.

  5. Maria By: Olivia Hatton • Maria means seas • A Maria is a sea on the moon, well not really a sea but lower lands on the lower part of the moon that looks like a sea. It’s like a large indent. • The Maria is filled with dark solid Lava that was there from earlier times of the lunar volcanism. They are the dark parts of the moon. • The back side of the moon that we don’t see is the far side and there are barely any Marias on that side.

  6. Galileoby Micaela Wilner • Galileo was born in Italy on February 15th 1564. • The year 1609 he studied astronomy and looked through his home made telescope and found the moon. Similar to a globe, the moon looked like it had sea, land, mountains, and rivers, even though there isn’t any water on the moon. • Galileo made drawings of the faces of the moon which we know are full moon, new moon, waxing gibbous, waning gibbous, first quarter moon, second quarter moon, waxing crescent, and waning crescent. • Galileo found there were craters on the moon formed by asteroids crashing into the moon. • He has made a fantastic invention that a lot of people use today. The invention was the telescope he made. He tried to tell people that if you look through the telescope they could see the moon but they didn’t believe him. So he went to Rome and they looked in his proof and saw the moon. Then he finally convinced the people in Italy about the telescope. • He is a very famous today from what he did.

  7. Waxing Crescent The waxing crescent is when the moon has a small part of light on the right side. By London Smith

  8. Moon rocks Here is a new rock that was found on the moon. It was a armalcolite rock. It was named after the Apollo 11 astronauts. Armstrong, Aldrin, and Collins. Armalcolite is a high titanium mineral that performs by high temperature and pressures. By: Nakiyah Ricca

  9. Moon’s Orbit Around Earth The Moon’s orbit around the Earth takes about 27.3 days to go around. The Earth is always seeing one side of the Moon when it is in it’s rotation. The Earth’s gravity is the thing that keeps the Moon in the orbit around Earth. The Moon goes around the Earth in a circle. The Moon is 384,000 km away. By: Derek Wakeley

  10. The Man on the moon The Moon isn’t perfectly round. There is a huge bulge on the Earth-facing side, called the near-side, and a huge bulge on the far side too. You can only see the man on the moon when the moon is full. The man’s eyes are the Mare Imbrium and the Mare Serenitatis, it’s nose is the Sinus Aestuum, and it’s grinning mouth is the Mare Nubium and Mare Cognitum. • By Katie Revelas • If you could see in this picture, it looks like there’s a face on the moon. It’s not really a face. It’s a bunch of craters formed together to make it look like a face. Of course, it wasn’t meant to be that way. It was made by nature.

  11. Sea of Tranquility The sea of tranquility is alunarmare and that sits beyond the basin of the moon.

  12. What is a Lunar Eclipse? What happens during the Lunar Eclipse? In a Lunar Eclipse the entire Moon passes through Earth’s shadow. These events are striking because of the moon’s red color during the total phase. We see a circular bite taken out of the moon. A dark arc slowly grows. The Lunar Eclipse is a specific type of eclipse. Lunar Eclipse doesn’t look the same every time like a example these pictures. Some of these pictures have the darkness covering half the moon, then a little bit less then ¾ of the moon, then ¾ of the moon. By: Taylor Moore

  13. CRATERS Craters are remains of asteroids, comets, and other things that float around in space. These things hit the moon in a very high speed at 12 miles per hour. By Katelyn Macdonald

  14. By Rocco Conover Gravity Gravity is a invisible force that pulls the people to the ground and does not let then float in the air and if you are on the moon it is like slow motion on earth if you are 165lbs on the moon you would be27.4 lbs. http://www.moonconnection.com/moon_gravity.phtml

  15. Waxing Gibbous Waxing Gibbous By: Nicole Fallon A Waxing Gibbous, is when we are at the last phase next to a Full Moon. A waxing Gibbous is where a sliver of the moon is missing, and we only see about 84% full. A Waxing Gibbous is a very strange name and I think it is one of my favorite moon phases. I hope that we will see a waxing gibbous phase early this month!

  16. The full moon is when the moon makes all through all of the six stages then it will all go back into a full moon. The moon goes through so many phases there are nine phases through the whole thing and it takes the moon one month to get back to the full moon again.!! The full moon By:patrick helms 

  17. Neil Armstrong by Paz Gismondi • Neil Armstrong was the 1st person to ever walk on the Moon. • When Neil left the military he became a test pilot. • As a test pilot, Neil Armstrongmade 7 flightsX-15 jet. • He was able to obtain a height of 207,500. • He was born on April 5, 1930 in Wapakoneta, Ohio. • He holds a masters degree in aerospace engineering. • Neil Armstrong was the commander of Apollo 11. • Neil Armstrong said this as he became the 1st person to touch the Moon. ”One small step for man; one giant leap for mankind.”

  18. Apollo 11By Cammi Arseneau out of this world pictures Cool facts Apollo 11 was the 1st rocket carrying humans to the moon. Neil Armstrong was the first human ever to step on the moon. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the passengers on Apollo 11 They did several test on the moon including, gravity tests and soil tests. 1 of the astronauts made a foot print in the dirt, which could be there for a while. They stayed on the moon for 4 days • These pics were taken on Apollo 11!

  19. - The Moon’s Surface The Moon’s Surface is made up of dust, molten lava, and different layers of rocks. It is also made up of blasted debris and bits of asteroids, meteorites, and meteors that have hit the moon. It is about 8- 10 feet deep. It has been building up for years, and years, and years. The properties of the moon are highlands, lowlands, Maria, and craters are things the Moon’s surface is made up of. BY: Luke McKeown

  20. WANING CRESCENT MOON By: Jannah Quigley The waning crescent is a thin silver strip that looks like a crescent roll. It is sometimes called an “old man”. It takes the moon four weeks to go from a new moon to a waning crescent. To tell if it’ s a waning or a waxing crescent moon, you have to look to see if the light part is facing the left then it’s a waning crescent, if it’s facing the right it’s a waxing crescent.

  21. the dark By Paul Raney • The dark side of the moon is some thing we can not see because it turns so slow and goes around so we can’t see the dark side. If you are on the dark side on the moon you can’t use your radio Not to size

  22. BY: Matt Gordon THE LUNAR MODULE IS WHAT THEY USED TO LAND ON THE MOON. THERE IS A PIctureOF IT IN THE TOP LEFT COrNER. This CARRiEDTHE MAN THAT HAD THE FIRST STEP ON THE MOON. Neil Armstrong. IT also took Buzz Aldrinto the moon. This event occurredon July 20, 1969. THIS event was one of the biggest events. They hooked cameras on the ship before time and that’s where we get the photos from. What about the LUNAR MODULE?

  23. What is the 1st quarter moon? By: Rita Prinz The 1st quarter moon is seen at sunset. The light is on the right side of the moon and the dark side is on the left. The moon in this pictures below are all a waxing 1st quarters. A 1st quarter moon is one of 8 phases of the moon. In the sky when you see the first quarter moon that means the sun is lighting up only half of the moon. The moon never changes its shape the sun just shines on different spots.

  24. Blue Moon A Blue Moon is when there is a full moon 2 times in 1 month. The next blue moon will happen in December, 2009. The first full moon will be the 2nd at 7:29am, and the blue moon will happen the 31st at 7:11pm. At a blue moon the moon isn’t really blue. By: Samantha Budd

  25. Waning Gibbous • The Waning Gibbous is a phase of the moon. The Waning Gibbous is when the moon only has a little piece showing. When the moon is Waning it means it is decreasing or going down. The opposite of Waning is Waxing which means the moon is getting bigger. • Melissa Bartley

  26. Imbrium Basin With a diameter of 1160 kilometers, the Imbrium Basin, the largest basin on the near-side of the moon, is a sight that can be seen from 221,463 miles away! That would have to be really big to be seen from such a distance! It is the right eye of the man on the moon. There are also things inside of the Imbrium Basin, including the Mare Imbrium. By Kyle Gotchel

  27. Last Quarter By Lauren Rasmusson • Three weeks after the waning gibbous we can see half of the illuminated part of the moon. This is called the last quarter.

  28. New Moon • The new moon is when we are looking at the moon and when it lies between earth and the sun. The new moon is also called the dark moon. By: Aaron Olsen
