  3. The advantages of E-mail: • Speed • Low cost • Save effort • Easy to use • Ability to send text, image, sound, or even video. But because there’s no way of knowing if the person is online at that particular moment of sending e-mail, this is why instant messaging has gained popularity.

  4. Instant messaging It allows maintaining a list of people to interact with, it also can be sent to any of the people in your list, as long as that person is online. Instant messaging provide a variety of features: • Instant messages • Chat • Web links • Images • Sounds • Files • Talk • Streaming content

  5. 1. Conferencing: Such as NetMeeting: allow workgroups to use the internet to see each others; faces in small windows on the computer screen and to hear their voices through computer speakers. Telephone Conferencing Other forms of conferencing 2. Web Chat: It can conduct online chat between 50 and 1,000 users simultaneously.

  6. ICQ • It allows registered users to set up both public and private chat sessions, send written and voice messages and files. • ICQ means “I seek you” • Features of ICQ are: • Find friends online in real time. • Create your own contact list • Send files ( images, video, audio, ….) • Chat

  7. MSN Messenger 1.To sign in to the .Net Messenger service: • Click Startthen All programs • Click Windows Messenger • Click on the link “Sign in” • Type your email address and password

  8. 2. To create a group of contacts: Click Create a New Group under Manage Groups in Contacts menu • After you sign-in, it will display the list of contacts and online status. Rename the new group and then drag the contacts into that group * to delete or rename the group you do right click on it.

  9. 3. To send an instant message • click the name of the person to be contacted • The conversation window will open. Type your message here, then click enter to send it. *each message can be up to 400 characters long

  10. A notification pop-up box in the lower right corner of his screen, and an audible alert indicates a message. Click on it to open his conversation. • Then the receiver will answer.

  11. 4. To add people to your list: • Click on “ADD a Contact” or take same option from Contacts menu. • 5. To send a message to someone who is not on your contact list: • Choose “Send Other” under Action menu

  12. 6. To allow messages from anyone outside your list • Click option in Tools menu, and then select “Privacy tab” • Choose “All others” and then click “Allow” * To block anyone from your list, you choose the person from the “Allow list” and then click “block”

  13. 8. To start a voice communications: • Double-click the name of a contact on the list and then click on Voice icon • 7.To start a videoconference: • Double-click the name of a contact on the list and then click on the video icon

  14. 9. To send a file or photo: • Click send files in the conversation window • Select a file to send, and then click open. • When the contact accepts the file, a notice will be received. • 10. To receive a file: • Click Accept, only if the source can be trusted (click OK)

  15. 11. To change your online status: • Go to file menu, My status, then click one of the options. • Or, click the user name and choose one of the options. • 12. To sign out from MSN Messenger: • Go to file menu, then click sign out

  17. Bluetooth Is the standard that allows any sort of electronic equipment to make its own connections without wires, cables or any direct action from a user. It uses microwave radio to transmit data over short distances.
