  9. Movie Review • 13 Days: released in 2000, discusses two weeks of Cold War in October 1962. • Strategic Air Command (SAC) was raised to DEFCON 2 (one shy of imminent war) • Soviets were caught putting missiles in Cuba because the United States had missiles in Jupiter Turkey. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSA7Evcy7iE

  10. TV Show Review • The Day After: aired on ABC in 1983 as a two hour tv special. It depicts a fictional war between the Soviets and the US. When the US decides to not stop occupying the Berlin Wall, the Soviets move in and take over. A few days later a US Air Force colonel receives word that a Soviet nuclear launch was in full effect. 32 nuclear war heads land in the Midwest and destroys everything in its path. The latter part of the story is about two men Dr. Oakes and Professor Huxley going from town to town to help out those in need. The entire movie is about nuclear fall out (aftermath of apocalypse) that eventually kills everyone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2H1E02iMHg

  11. Conclusion • From the start of WWI all the way up to present day 2012, it is very clear how far the world has come in the advancement of technology. • From machine guns in the early 1900’s, to the atomic bomb that ended the war in 1945, to the missiles in the Cold War, and now nuclear war heads, it is only a matter of time before one of these countries uses what they have and sends the rest of the world down a road to definite destruction.
