  1. MUST HAVE SHOULD HAVE COULD HAVE Module # 010

  2. Qi Hardware • Objectives • Recognize hardware • Know how to interface to field equipment • Know the 4 different communications interfaces. • Will know what type of equipment is supported by the QiMPACT • Will be able to calculate card and I/O combinations

  3. The Qi “Box”

  4. Fully populated Qi Matroller Standard Ethernet port 4x Control O/Ps for Scales • Installed Boards: • Dual Analogue Scale, Flowmeter board and ProfiBus communications Load and Reset button

  5. Control connections for the Scales Control O/P for Scale A • Scale B uses OUT2 • Scale C uses OUT3 Note: Channel number is not related to a PAC Channel Analogue Scale A connection • Scale D uses OUT4 • Assignment is fixed

  6. Flowmeter board • Flowmeter 2 uses O/P 2, etc • Assignment is fixed Control O/P for Flowmeter 1 Flowmeter 1, I/O connections • O/Ps are NOT isolated from each other or 0 volts !

  7. Flowmeter board Jumpers Jumper settings for each channel • Each channel is fully opto isolated

  8. Flowmeter channel jumpers Filter Enable Channel jumpers Channel options

  9. Flowmeter address setting • Up to 3 Flowmeter boards can be installed in a single Qi Matroller • Each must have its own unique address Three address settings

  10. MultiFunction board (Qi Lite) Fast Feed Control O/P’s • Qi Lite can function as a two speed Feed Controller • The Fast Feed Control is done using these O/Ps • The O/Ps are user assignable via software

  11. Same board that has been used by the jagXtreme platform for years Address is setup using Qi front panel or Web Pages. Default comms interface is CNet – make sure that PBus has been selected Profibus board

  12. ControlNet board – Rear view • Rear view with cover plate removed • NOTE: By default ControlNet ports are active, NOT EtherNet IP Secondary ControlNet port Status LEDs Primary ControlNet port Address set by these switches EtherNet IP port

  13. CNet board showing internal com port for firmware upgrades NOTE: this is an advanced feature and would not normally be used Current version of CNet firmware is “E” (Dec 2005) ControlNet board – RS232 port Load PB Rx Tx 0V

  14. Cooling Fan assembly !! 220 V version of power supply is now available Supplied as Standard with all Qi Matrollers

  15. CR1 Field wiring example 1 • One scale connected with one Control O/P used • External PSU must be referenced Qi 0V • Qi internal 20V may also be used (limited current available) • External relay used Controller board terminals Loadcell connections Exc- Sens- Sig- Shld Analogue Scale Sig+ Sens+ Extra logic and wiring here normally Exc+ 24 V PSU GND In1 OP4 OP3 Control Valve OP2 FCE Open Collector OP1 +5 30 mA max

  16. Exc- Sens- Sig- Shld Sig+ Sens+ Exc+ Field wiring example 2 Controller board terminals • One scale connected with one Control O/P used • Solid State Relay used Loadcell connections Analogue Scale Extra logic and wiring here normally GND SSR In1 OP4 OP3 Control Valve FCE Open Collector OP2 OP1 +5

  17. CR1 Field Wiring example 3 • Flowmeter connections with Control O/P • Flowmeter powered by Matroller +5V • Teststand config • (not normal for process applications) Flowmeter board terminals Sh Lo Hi Flow meter Extra logic and wiring here normally Flowmeter board terminals GND 24 Volts DC OP4 OP3 OP2 FCE Open Collector OP1 Control Valve +5 30 mA max

  18. CR1 Field Wiring example 4 • Flowmeter connections with Control O/P • Flowmeter supplied with own PSU 24 V PSU Flowmeter board terminals Sh Lo Hi Flow meter Extra logic and wiring here normally Flowmeter board terminals GND 24 Volts DC OP4 OP3 OP2 FCE Open Collector OP1 Control Valve +5 30 mA max

  19. Qi – PLC , physical I/O connections • Control of multiple materials using only 1 control O/P from the Qi – how?

  20. Qi Hardware & Firmware summary • Uses some of the JagX hardware • Digital and analogue scale hardware, PSU, enclosures, display electronics and CPU board, maintenance features. Good for support and spares purposes • Supported Hardware • Analogue and digital Scale boards • Flowmeter (pulse input) with 4X control O/Ps (NEW PRODUCT) • Multi I/O board (required for Two Speed Control !! ) • Communications Interfaces • ControlNet & Ethernet IP, Profibus DP, Honeywell C200 & DeltaV • Analogue output board is Not Supported • Supplied in same range of enclosures as JagX • JagX can be upgraded to a Qi, (kit required) • JagX Operating system with PAC and other functionality added • This means that there is a quicker learning curve for those that are already familiar with the JagX • 3 Slots available for option cards (comms interface uses one of these slots!)

  21. The Communications Interfaces • Controlnet • Node address is set via switches on rear of board • Redundant networks are supported • Default setting • Ethernet IP • Address is set via internal configuration • Must be enabled! • Uses the same ControlNet board • Profibus DP • Address is set via internal configuration. • Honeywell C200 • DelltaV • GateWays that support any of the above

  22. The Flowmeter board parameters • Only compatible with Flow meters with pulse O/Ps • 4 x individually isolated Pulse input channels • 4 x Control Outputs, not isolated (one for each flowmeter channel) • input ranges (5, 12 and 24 volt), Jumper selectable • AC or DC input signal, jumper selectable • 3 jumper selectable address settings • Each board must have a unique address • Jumper selectable input filter • 30 khz max input frequency • 8 uS min pulse width • Max counts: 16,777,215

  23. JagX to Qi upgrade • JagX field upgradeable to a QiMPACT • Protected against unauthorized upgrades. • Requires purchase of an “Upgrade kit” • EPROM required to be installed • Special note: • Analogue output board not supported • Non-DMA analogue Scale boards not supported

  24. Cluster System Limits (Standard Qi) • 1000 Material Paths, Max • 200 Channels, Max (166 for ProfiBus)(Honeywell ??? • Max instruments per Qi: • 4 scales max ( 2 boards ) • 12 Flowmeters ( 3 boards ) • 1 Multi Function board • 1 communications interface board • 24 channels per bridge, max (ControlNet) • 10 channels per bridge, max (ProfiBus) • Examples of single Qi configurations (all Slots used): • Profibus, 2 scales, 4 flowmeters OR • 4 scales, 4 flowmeters OR • 2 scales, 8 flowmeters OR • Controlnet, 4 scales OR • 4 Scales, MultiFunction board (for two speed Control)

  25. Cluster System Limits (Qi Lite) • 1000 Material Paths, Max • 12 Channels, Max • Max instruments per Qi: • 4 scales max ( 2 boards ) • 12 Flowmeters ( 3 boards ) • 1 Multi Function board • 1 communications interface board • Examples of single Qi configurations (all Slots used): • Profibus, 2 scales, 4 flowmeters OR • 4 scales, 4 flowmeters OR • 2 scales, 8 flowmeters OR • Controlnet, 4 scales OR • 4 Scales, MultiFunction board (for two speed Control)

  26. Review questions • Can each Flowmeter channel have its own voltage threshold levels? • Is the JagXtreme Analogue Output board compatible with the Matroller? • How many analogue scales can be connected to a single Matroller? • How many boards is this? • Can a JagXtreme be upgraded to a Qi Matroller • Is the Qi Matroller compatible with all types of Flowmeters ?

  27. 010 - Revision notes • Scales use Controller board O/Ps for Feed Control (FCE’s) • Flow meters use their own on board O/Ps for Feed Control (FCE’s) • Set different addresses if more than one flow meter board is installed in a chassis • Set different addresses if more than one scale board is installed in a chassis • If using two speed control (QiLite only) the Fast Feed is controlled by an O/P on the multifunction board. (user can select which O/P) • The FCE should be in direct control of the physical control valve. (via Material Path selection matrix) • The EthernetIP interface is not active by default. It must be enabled and then its IP address set.
